5 Events Worth Training For in Villa la Angostura, Patagonia in 2022
Villa la Angostura is a small town located about an hour outside of Bariloche in the 7 Lakes Region of Patagonia. In contrast to Bariloche’s city feel, Villa la Angostura is a beautiful quaint village in the mountains. 1. Solomon K42 Race
This isn’t your local Turkey Trot, the KSeries is athletes who are ready to put their training to the test. Sponsored by Salomon Argentina this prestigious race attracts trail and mountain running enthusiasts from around the world.
This race takes places in Villa la Angostura during the month of November each year on a Friday and Saturday
The dates for Salomon K42 2022 are November 11th and November 12th.
The main (and most challenging) event is the K42 marathon – 42 kilometers (26.1 miles). This circuit winds in and out of the mountains at varying steep inclines and terrains.
For the runners not ready to take on the marathon, there are options to run a 15K or 5K.

2. Gran Fondo Siete Lagos Bike Race
Race on one of the most iconic roads in South America – Ruta de Siete Lagos. Starting in Villa la Angostura and winding the lake to end in San Martin de Los Andes, this 110 kilometer race will be one you never forget.
If 110 kilometers feels like too much, there is also a 50 kilometer option. This event usually takes place in the Spring (November) over a long weekend.

3. Las Balsas Chess Tournament
Face off against Grandmasters and other chess enthusiasts in a Relais & Chateaux hotel.
For the 1st time ever, Las Balsas is hosting an International Chess Tournament June 17th, 18th and 19th 2022.

4. El Cruce Columbia
Sponsored by Columbia, El Cruce is a strenuous race that will test even the toughest of athletes. A 100km trail running race that spans over some of the most exciting views of the Andes – you’ll cross through both sides of Patagonia – starting in Argentina and ending in Chile.
Broken up into 3 days with campsites in between, this is a race that requires focus and endurance.
This is an adventure race requiring dedication and time in training but gives the ultimate runners high upon completion.
They say “Not everyone can run El Cruce, but those who do will never forget”.

5. UCI MTB MASTER World Champions
A Mountain Bike competition that brings the best in the world over 35.
You’ll race down Cerro Bayo in one of the largest mountain bike race in Argentina.
The dates for UCI MTB Master in 2022 are April 22nd and April 23rd.
